The Royal College of Physician’s London events venue celebrates 12% increase in events in 2023

RCP London Events is pleased to announces a 12 per cent increase in events in 2023 compared to the previous year. The central London events venue hosted 370 events last year for a wide range of organisations including associations, charities, medical companies and the wider corporate community across several sectors.

A breakdown of the events reveals that 41% comprised conferences, with the remainder spanning summer events, dinners, and drinks receptions. Notably, June and September of 2023 witnessed record-breaking performances, marking it as the venue's most successful year to date.

Some of the key events to take place at the venue in 2023 included the: Writers’ Guild of Great Britain Awards, The Radio Academy Festival,  the London Breast Meeting and Noon by Noor fashion show during London Fashion Week. We also hosted our first summer showcase since 2019, attended by over 130 event professionals, partners and clients.

RCP London Events’ head of commercial events, Natacha Allen, says: “As we reflect on the remarkable success of RCP London Events last year, we attribute our achievement to a multitude of great initiatives, with a special emphasis on some of our sustainable practices which proved popular with our clients, following client feedback received.

“From partnerships with environmentally conscious F&B providers to joining Greengage and Green Meetings to achieve new green accreditations, we have woven sustainability into the fabric of our operation and encourage all clients to be mindful of their environmental impact when hosting events at the venue.”

A variety of impactful partnerships and collaborations positively impacted both the venue and its wider community in 2023. These included partnerships with Luminary Bakery, Toast, and Edmunds. Via our catering partner, Company of Cooks, we also supported collaborations with social enterprises like Well Grounded and charitable organisations such as The Prince’s Trust and Springboard.

The venue’s plant-based and healthy options were continuously reviewed and developed as a result of direct customer feedback last year, and were placed at the very beginning of menus for fullest visibility. This was a key decision factor for clients, many of whom are medically minded and conscious of what their delegates fuel themselves with and resulted in plant based choices being up in 2023 once again.

In Spring 2023, RCP London Events introduced a fully plant-based DDR menu, the ‘Peony’ menu. This turned out to be a best-seller: 40% of clients chose ‘Peony’ for their events in YTD. A ‘higher welfare purchasing strategy’ was also implemented which included only using seasonable produce on its menus and removing air freighted items from supply, which proved popular with clients.

Natacha Allen adds: “Looking ahead, we have exciting plans for the coming year. With refurbishments planned for one of our key spaces, the venue is poised to enhance the delegate experience. A refreshed menu design, a dedicated Sustainability Task Force and ongoing commitment to meaningful, measurable sustainability initiatives highlights our commitment to continuous improvement. Watch this space for further developments.”
